This work constructs a “re-fictionalized” dual framework, examining the friction between neoliberal colonialism and unmodernized authoritarianism. By exploring how these two forces converge, the piece reconstructs a classic narrative regarding the common people’s misconception of “justice” from a position of systemic weakness.

Borrowing its title from Leslie Cheung’s 1980s Hong Kong pop anthem, the work interrogates the “triangular tragedy” of the individual caught between competing powers. It delves into the myth of the “silent majority” within the lower echelons of Chinese society, where survival often relies on the “Thick Black Theory” (厚黑學)—a philosophy where silence is not just a virtue, but a tactical necessity for endurance.
