Referring to a Burnaby local news of a black bear wandering in Central Park then finally taken by the authority, I intended to have this scene with people animal looking to each other which represents a strange/ defensive position and atmosphere, mostly reflect the feeling of being a stranger as an immigrant. It also questions who should be claim as immigrant and who should be the land occupant. The title Will you come tonight is a HK Pop song title (Singer Leon Lai) in 1990s, which is banned in China in 2022, causing by Nancy Pelosi’s rapid-landing/visiting in Taiwan ( Speaker of the United States House of Representatives). This also represent a metaphor of Ancient Chinese saying ” 來者不善, 善者不來 ” which means “Those who come are not good, those who are kind do not come”. Are new comers truly welcomed upon the human history?

Central Park Series eventually set up in Burnaby Central Park, but the term “Central Park” could be in any other cities like New York, the famous one, which is pointing to the divided natural space surrounding with concrete towers. It’s also a metaphor of land occupation- transformation-immigration-reservation, I’m a person who born and raise in the metropolis in China, seeing too much urban transformation, the wild lives landscape in Vancouver looks unreal to me, and that makes me decided to be the background for the picture making.
